Not quite sure what to call them. Basically, a cushion for rowers to sit on the thwart. Just wondering what you folks use, recommend, where to get them etc So far I've priced up making our own out of 2" firm upholstery foam, pvc/canvas, plastic zips, nylon webbing at about £20 a pop. And I've sourced a pro-manufactured pad at at £28. Any suggestions, please?

Hi Jon, we found that the thwarts were too low for the majority of our rowers so we built what we called "seat risers" to elevate the rower and give a better hand height for rowing. These were made from plywood with a piece of 1" rigid foam glued on the bottom. The risers just sit on the thwarts and the lips on the side prevent them from sliding off, however, they can be slide out of the way for rowers that do not require them. We then duct taped 1/2" dense foam on top for cushioning. Chris Attachments:

Hi Frogfeet, yes that's a nice solution. My version has 2" thick, rigid foam so would acheive pretty much the same thing.
