I will be completing the first St. Ayles Skiff in the San Francisco, California area very soon. Although I have rowed small boats all my life, I know very little (nothing really) of rowing with 4 other people. Are there any good handbooks that I could come by that would describe the nomenclature, rules, procedures, and commands that may be necessary to know in order to unify a group of 5 new rowers so that we don't go out on the water and immediately make fools of ourselves?

Hi, I have shared your query across to the Scottish Coastal Rowing Facebook group....... quite a few answers awaiting you there. Something to be said for trying to adopt local words and practice if there are established open water club in the area already using less lovely boats. www.facebook.com/groups/ScottishCoastalRowing/ (there is a search function on the FB group if needed... search "Chandler" to find it if it has slipped down the feed)
